Introduction to SPF (Sender Policy Framework)

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is an essential email authentication technique that helps to prevent email spoofing and phishing by verifying that incoming mail from a domain is being sent from a server authorized by the domain’s administrators. By implementing an SPF record in your DNS settings, you ensure that only legitimate servers can send emails on behalf of your domain. This not only helps in reducing spam and malicious email activities but also significantly improves the deliverability of your emails. With SPF, receivers can trust that the emails they receive from your domain are genuine, which minimizes the chances of your legitimate emails being mistakenly marked as spam or rejected.

Step 1: Log in to DirectAdmin

  • Sign in to your DirectAdmin control panel.

Step 2: Navigate to DNS Management

  • Click on the “DNS Management” icon to manage your domain's dns records.

Step 3: Add SPF Record

  • In the DNS Management page, click on the button ADD RECORD.
  • In the Record Type dropdown menu, select TXT.
  • In the Name field, enter your domain name (e.g., yourdomain.com.). Make sure to include the final dot.
  • In the Value field, enter the following SPF record: "v=spf1 include:spf.hostwhitelabel.com ~all"
  • Click the ADD button to create the record.
  • If your domain’s DNS is managed outside of DirectAdmin, you’ll need to add the SPF record where the dns is hosted.
